1.1 LANSA for Linux Main Functions

LANSA for Linux has the following main functions:

• Receive objects delivered from Visual LANSA - importing the repository, creating tables, building the shared libraries (the equivalent to Windows DLLs) for OAMs and other LANSA objects required on the server. For more information, refer to Deliver the Server Portion of an Application to Linux in the Deploying LANSA Applications on Linux Guide.

• The LANSA listener (lcolist): waits for incoming requests from client applications, and starts jobs (lcotp) to service those requests. For more information on the LANSA listener, please refer to the LANSA Communications Setup Guide.

• Command line execution (x_run): can be used directly from the Linux command shell to execute batch jobs, check license installation, and so on. On Linux, all x_run jobs are automatically in batch mode as there is no user interface. For more information on x_run, please refer to The X_RUN Command in the Technical Reference Guide.

• LANSA for the Web Run-time: supports running LANSA applications developed using the LANSA Web Functions and Web Application Modules technology. For more information, please refer the LANSA for the Web Guide.

• LANSA for the Web Apache Module: the Apache Web Server add-on for serving web pages generated by LANSA systems on the same Linux system and/or any other additional LANSA systems, including those on Windows or IBM i. It supports both LANSA Web Functions and Web Application Modules. For more information, please refer the LANSA for the Web Guide.

• LANSA Integrator for Linux: enables integration of Application-to-Application (A2A) and Business-to-Business (B2B) transactions through XML and Java Services and optionally using LANSA applications on the same Linux system and/or any other additional LANSA systems, including those on Windows or IBM i.
