1.2.7 LANSA is an Architecture

LANSA is an architecture and not a software program. It is an architecture for developing applications instead of being just an application programming language or tool.

For example, with LANSA, a developer can create a single business application solution which can:

• execute as a standalone application on a PC, or PC network running Windows

• execute over the World Wide Web as an Internet or Intranet application using a browser or other device supporting Java or XML

• execute as a client/server application supporting distributed presentation, distributed logic or distributed data models from a Windows client to an IBM i or other server

• execute as a standalone 5250 host-based application on the IBM i

and this solution is:

• created using a single set of skills

• created from one set of code (a single application definition)

• created using a single family of integrated products.
