3.4.2 Index Description

Mandatory.

Specify the description to be associated with the index.  This description is used within LANSA and within the operating system to aid system users in identifying the table.

Rules

• A description must be entered for each language defined for the partition.

• Maximum length is 40 characters.

Tips & Techniques

• Wherever possible include information in the description that specifies what the index should be used for. For example, "Customer master ordered by post code" or "Orders by customer number, order number".
