Following are some common issues encountered when installing and upgrading Visual LANSA:
Import failed during system initialization
As part of the Visual LANSA install, a database is created and populated with data and definitions that are required for the normal running of Visual LANSA.
If a database logon or communications link has failed during a Visual LANSA installation, you may not have been able to complete the system initialization. If this occurs, you do not have to reinstall the software.
The most likely reason the imports have not completed is if the definitions are being imported from an IBM i Master and there has been a communications failure. In this case, log on to Visual LANSA to complete the initialization. The initialization program will be called when Visual LANSA is executed for the first time.
Communications failure when connecting to IBM i Master during system initialization
The most likely reasons for a communications failure are outlined in the Web Administrator Errors troubleshooting's Error Codes.
If you are using IBM i with TCP/IP and a LANSA Listener, see the TP job in the QEZJOBLOG for detailed information about the problem.
After resolving the communications problem, log on to Visual LANSA to complete the initialization. The initialization program will be called when Visual LANSA is executed for the first time.
