General

The values in this section are used in connection with defining, preparing and executing Transformation Maps.

Note:  preparing Transformation maps to execute as MapForce Server execution (.MFX) is presently supported only for LANSA Composer running on a Windows server.  On IBM i servers, only Java executable files are supported.  Consequently the first three options described below do not apply and are not shown for LANSA Composer on an IBM i server.

Prepare transformation maps as

When running on a Windows server, LANSA Composer can prepare Transformation Maps to execute as either:

This setting specifies which execution model to use by default.  For more information, refer to Transformation Map Executable Files.

Enable prepare as Java executable file (.JAR)

This setting specifies whether preparing Transformation Maps to execute as Java executable files (.JAR) is enabled.  If you are exclusively preparing and executing maps using MapForce Server, then you can uncheck this box to avoid being prompted for this choice when preparing Transformation Maps.

Enable prepare as MapForce Server execution file (.MFX)

This setting specifies whether preparing Transformation Maps to execute as MapForce Server execution files (.MFX) is enabled.  If you are exclusively preparing and executing maps as Java executable files, then you can uncheck this box to avoid being prompted for this choice when preparing Transformation Maps.

Note:  executing Transformation maps as MapForce Server execution (.MFX) files requires an optional additional LANSA Composer licence.  You may see a warning on this panel if this setting is enabled and the necessary licence has not been applied to the LANSA Composer server.

In addition a correctly licensed MapForce Server installation is required.

Map generate and compile

Example: C:\Temp

This value specifies the location where intermediate build files (such as Java source and object files) will be held during the process of preparing a transformation map. The default setting is to use the Windows temporary directory for the user, but you can explicitly specify a location by clicking the second radio button. For best performance while preparing transformation maps, it is recommended that a location on the local (client) file system is used.

The files in this directory are only used during the Prepare Transformation Map process. Over a period of use, a number of directories and files may accumulate here. You may clear the contents of this directory to save space. You may do this at any time providing no transformation maps are being prepared at the time.
