8.1 Introduction to the User Agent

The User Agent is an end user (client) application for uploading files to a LANSA Integrator application. It can send files via HTTP, HTTPS, SFTP, FTP or JMS message. You could use the User Agent to simplify uploads from your workstation to a host for re-occurring tasks such as end of day processing.

The User Agent allows Windows and Linux clients to enter data in Excel spreadsheets, text files (using comma or tab delimited formats) or XML files, and to send the validated files to remote hosts. For example, a buying trading partner could enter ordering information in a spreadsheet and send the file to a remote trading hub. The remote trading hub can use a single LANSA Integrator program to process files, regardless of format, and return the processed messages back to the user agent.

The User Agent is setup by a developer who defines the required upload parameters in a configuration file. The end user simply selects the file to be sent. The User Agent will automatically perform the upload based on the configuration parameters
